What no-account access does not change is the privacy line. A private account stays closed whether you are logged in or not, and no login-free route reaches a reel the owner has not made public.
Can you view private reels?
No. Private reels remain visible only to approved followers inside Instagram. This viewer works with public profiles and returns a private-account notice when the account is not public.
Reels vs regular video posts
Instagram treats reels as a separate content type from a regular video published to the main grid. Reels are short-form vertical videos built for the Reels tab and Explore, often set to trending audio, and they carry their own play count and remix options that a standard feed video does not have.
A profile can publish both: a reel that also shows pinned on the main grid, and a video post that was uploaded the traditional way and never enters the Reels system. This grid only pulls the former — content Instagram classifies as a reel — so a profile that posts video without using the Reels format will show fewer items here than its total video count suggests.

What loads here reflects Instagram’s current reel classification for a profile, not a manual video count. A profile’s non-reel video posts or videos shared only to Stories sit outside what this grid pulls, even though they are also video content on the same public profile.
